Had one of those workouts where nothing felt right. My warm-ups felt heavy, my working sets were slower than usual, and I just never got into a groove.
Normally I hate cutting a workout short because it feels like I'm giving up, but yesterday I started wondering if that's actually the smarter move sometimes.
When you have days like that, do you still finish everything you planned, lighten the weight and keep going, or just call it and come back fresh the next day? Curious how you guys handle those off days mentally and physically.
What do you guys do when the gym just isn't clicking?
Re: What do you guys do when the gym just isn't clicking?
I used to force every workout no matter what. Now if I'm clearly off, I'll drop the weight a bit and just focus on good reps. Better than grinding through junk sets.

We've all had those days, bro. One bad workout doesn't erase months of progress.
Re: What do you guys do when the gym just isn't clicking?
Whenever I have a terrible session, it's almost always because I slept like garbage or didn't eat enough. I stopped blaming my program and started looking at recovery first. Amazing how much better the next workout goes after one solid night of sleep.

I still finish the workout, just without chasing PRs. Sometimes showing up is the real win.

If my warm-up feels heavy, I already know it's gonna be one of those "just survive today" sessions.

I think people underestimate how much stress outside the gym affects performance. Work, family, poor sleep... it all adds up. I adjust the plan instead of pretending I'm Superman. Been training over 10 years and that's saved me from a lot of unnecessary injuries.

Some of my strongest workouts actually came right after an awful one. I don't stress about it anymore.

Leave the ego at the door, man. Nobody cares what you're lifting as much as you think.

Appreciate all the input, guys. Sounds like I need to stop treating every workout like it has to be a PR. Next time I'll probably back the weight off a little instead of forcing it and just get some quality work in.
