Built My Home Gym Slowly What Equipment Was Actually Worth Buying?
I started putting together a home gym over the last year and actually realized I was about to waste money on a lot of things I probably didn't need.
At first I wanted every machine and accessory I saw online but after actually training at home I noticed a few basics made the biggest difference. Having equipment that I actually use consistently mattered way more than having a room full of random gear.
For people who built their own home gym what equipment ended up being the best investment? Anything you bought that you thought would be useful but barely touched?

I would start with less than you think. A rack, barbell, plates and adjustable dumbbells can cover a ridiculous amount of training. You can build a lot of strength without needing a commercial gym setup.

The biggest upgrade for me was a good adjustable bench I thought the barbell & rack would be the main thing but having a solid bench made pressing rows & accessories much easier.

A lot of people buy equipment for the workouts they imagine doing not the workouts they actually enjoy i bought a few fancy accessories that collected dust because I never used them.

Man flooring was something I underestimated. Good mats made the whole space feel better n reduced noise n made me more comfortable dropping weights n training consistently n @Godokie how you added that colour man really I read your content before the main one

Adjustable dumbbells were probably my favorite purchase. They save so much space and are useful for everything from presses to curls to warm-up work.

Not something everyone would do but for me lighting and organization made a bigger difference than expected. When my gym area was clean and ready to go I was much more likely to train instead of making excuses.

My advice is to buy equipment based on your program. If you mostly squat, bench and deadlift prioritize those movements first instead of buying machines you might use once a month.

A pull-up bar is one of those simple pieces that gives you a lot back. Rows, pull-ups, hangs nd bodyweight movements add a lot of variety without taking up much space.
