Anyone Else Cutting Back on High-Stim Pre-Workouts?
Anyone Else Cutting Back on High-Stim Pre-Workouts?
I used to think stronger always meant better, but lately I've been questioning that. Some of these newer formulas feel way over the top. I'd rather have steady energy for my workout than feel wired for the next six hours. Anyone else feel the same?

100%. I switched back to coffee and a pump formula. Way less crash and I still get good workouts.2qz

Same here, man. I don't need 400mg of caffeine just to train legs. I'd rather leave the gym feeling good than fried.

I used to chase the strongest pre I could find. Looking back, I think I just built a crazy caffeine tolerance. These days I stick to something around 200mg and honestly my workouts haven't suffered.

I've noticed the same thing. Some of these newer pres hit hard for the first 20 minutes, then I feel jittery more than focused. I'd rather have steady energy that lasts through the whole workout.
Re: Anyone Else Cutting Back on High-Stim Pre-Workouts?
Once I stopped taking those super high-stim pre-workouts every day, I actually started sleeping better. Now I only use the stronger stuff if I'm dragging after work or hitting a heavy session.
Re: Anyone Else Cutting Back on High-Stim Pre-Workouts?
I think companies are in a competition to make the label look crazier than the next brand. More caffeine doesn't automatically mean a better workout. If I'm eating right and getting decent sleep, a moderate pre is more than enough. I save the high-stim stuff for those days when I'm really running on empty.
Re: Anyone Else Cutting Back on High-Stim Pre-Workouts?
I'm with you on this. I used to think if my face wasn't tingling and my heart wasn't racing, the pre wasn't working. After a while I realized I was just relying on stimulants instead of fixing my sleep and nutrition. Now I use lower-stim products most of the time, and my energy feels way more consistent.
Re: Anyone Else Cutting Back on High-Stim Pre-Workouts?
The older I get, the less I care about having the strongest pre-workout on the market. Give me solid focus, a good pump, and enough energy to finish my workout that's all I need. Some of these newer formulas feel like they're trying to turn every workout into a caffeine challenge instead of helping you train better.
