Getting Stronger but Still Not Looking Jacked - This Normal?

Post by GritTy5* »

My numbers in the gym are definitely going up, so I know I’m getting stronger. But when I look in the mirror, I’m not seeing a whole lot of change yet. Kinda frustrating, not gonna lie.
For those who’ve been at this a while how long did it take before you actually started to look like you lift? Trying to stay patient, but it’s tough when the physique isn’t catching up to the strength.

Yeah bro, super normal. Strength blows up first.

You’re probably making progress, just not seeing it yet. Happens to almost everyone early on. Your body’s getting better at lifting (neurological gains), but actual muscle takes longer to visually show. Stay on it.

Took me almost a year before I looked like I even lifted lol. Before that it was just numbers going up and me second guessing everything.

Haha yeah I had a feeling that might be it. I’m not really tracking seriously, just kinda eating more than before. Scale hasn’t been moving much though, so yeah… probably need to dial that in.

That’s 100% it then. If the scale’s not going up, you’re spinning your wheels for size. Strength can still climb, but you won’t look much different. Get into a consistent surplus, keep protein high and give it a solid 8–12 weeks before judging.

Also depends where you started. If you had higher body fat, changes take longer to notice visually. If you were skinny, you might just need more overall mass. Either way, it’s a slow game.

You’re on the right track. Just keep lifting heavy, eat like you mean it, sleep, repeat. The oh damn I look like I lift moment comes outta nowhere.
