Bro Split Still Relevant?
Bro Split Still Relevant?
Chest day, back day, leg day… the classic old-school bro split. I know it’s not as trendy now, but does it still hold up compared to PPL and other modern programs for real muscle growth?
Re: Bro Split Still Relevant?
Bro split still works if effort and volume are there. People forget it built a lot of great physiques before PPL was trendy.
Re: Bro Split Still Relevant?
I think frequency matters more now because most people don’t train as hard as they think. Hitting muscles twice a week helps cover mistakes.
Re: Bro Split Still Relevant?
That’s kinda what I’m torn on. I like the focus of a bro split, but wonder if once-a-week is leaving gains on the table.

Depends on the person. When I ran a bro split and actually pushed sets to failure, growth was solid. When intensity dropped, progress stalled fast.
Re: Bro Split Still Relevant?
Bro split is great if you enjoy it. Enjoyment = consistency, and consistency beats the “perfect” program you hate.
Re: Bro Split Still Relevant?
Recovery matters too. Some guys don’t recover well from high-frequency plans, especially if sleep and food aren’t dialed.
Re: Bro Split Still Relevant?
Good point on recovery. I definitely feel more beat up on higher-frequency programs, especially legs.
Re: Bro Split Still Relevant?
I’ve rotated between bro split and PPL over the years. I make progress on both as long as volume and progression are there.
Re: Bro Split Still Relevant?
Social media kind of killed the bro split by calling it outdated. Reality is most lifters just need structure and effort.
