Been filming my squats lately and now I’m second guessing everything. Some people say I’m stopping high, others say it’s fine. I definitely feel it in my glutes and hammies, but how do you actually know when you’ve hit proper depth and not just half-repping it?

Bro if your hip crease is below your knees, that’s proper depth. Don’t overthink it. Everyone’s build is different some people hit depth easier just ‘cause of femur length and hip mobility.

Yeah I think my legs are longer so it’s hard to tell in vids. When I try to go lower, I feel like I lose tightness at the bottom though.

That’s super common, bro. Try pausing at the bottom for a second forces control and shows if you’re truly at depth or bouncing off your hips. Helped my form a ton.

Lmao exactly. But yeah, camera angle matters a lot. Film from knee height, directly from the side. Overhead or front angles make it look like you’re high even when you’re not.

lso depends if you’re doing high bar or low bar. High bar naturally goes deeper, low bar tends to be right at parallel. Don’t chase someone else’s form if your goal’s different.

I’m doing high bar mostly. I’m chasing leg size, not powerlifting numbers. Just want that clean form without wrecking my knees.

Then yeah bro, slightly below parallel with full control is perfect. You don’t need ATG unless it feels natural. Keep tension, drive through heels, you’re golden.
