Struggling to Break Past My Deadlift Plateau

Post by ZekeBarBN »

Been stuck at the same number for weeks now. Tried adding volume, tried lowering volume, nothing seems to click. What worked for you guys when your pull just refused to move?

When I hit a wall, I usually rotate in block pulls or deficit pulls. Forces me to attack weak spots.

Heavy barbell rows + RDLs saved my deadlift. My back was the limiting factor, not my actual pull.

Might sound simple but… eat more. My deadlift only moves when the scale moves.

Have you tried pausing just below the knee? Helped me break through a nasty plateau.

Haven’t done pause pulls yet, but I’m down to try. How heavy should I go on those?

Keep them around 70–75% of your max. Just enough to tax you without frying recovery.

Honestly, backing off intensity for 3–4 weeks then ramping again usually resets progress.

If your grip is slipping, no amount of volume will help. Train grip or get straps for accessory work.

Sumo pulled for 6 months, went back to conventional, PR’d easy. Sometimes a switch keeps things fresh.
