With so many workout splits and training methods trending online, it's easy to feel like you need a completely new routine every few months. But constantly switching exercises isn't always the answer. Sometimes you just need better progression, more recovery, or a few smart adjustments. Let's hear from the gym community: are you still running the same program you started the year with, or have you changed things to keep your gains coming?

A lot can change in your training over the course of a year. Maybe the program you started with helped you build muscle, get stronger, and stay consistent, but lately your progress has slowed down. Some lifters stick with the same split because it's working, while others switch things up when their lifts stall, recovery gets rough, or their goals change. The real question is whether your current program is still helping you move forward or if you're just going through the motions.

Same split since January, bro. Still getting stronger, so I'm sticking with it.

I switched things up around summer because my chest and shoulders weren't growing much.
Kept my main lifts but changed a few accessories, and I'm finally seeing better progress.

I completely changed my routine after months of feeling stuck. I was doing tons of sets, chasing failure on almost everything, and leaving the gym exhausted without seeing much improvement. Once I focused on tracking my lifts, managing volume, and recovering properly, my workouts started feeling productive again.

Still running upper/lower, and honestly, it's been working great for me.

I used to change programs every time I saw a new workout trend online
. Now I stick with a plan long enough to see whether it's actually working before making changes.

My biggest change this year wasn't switching splits; it was learning how to train smarter. I cut some unnecessary sets, paid more attention to my technique, and started taking rest days seriously. I'm not spending as much time in the gym, but I'm making steady progress and feeling much better between sessions.

Same program, better execution. My lifts are moving, so no need to fix what's working.

I moved from a five-day split to four days because work got hectic.
Surprisingly, I'm recovering better and getting stronger, so I might keep this setup for a while.

I think it depends on your goals and how long you've been training. Beginners might make progress with a pretty basic routine for months, while more experienced lifters sometimes need more specific adjustments to volume, intensity, or exercise selection. I wouldn't replace a whole program just because progress slows for a week, but if performance stays flat and recovery is good, it's worth reviewing the plan.
