Preparing for Your First Powerlifting Meet

Post by MerovBit »

Preparing for a powerlifting meet takes more than getting stronger I’d focus on practising commands, planning attempts and getting comfortable with the competition setup I think the biggest goal is to arrive prepared, stay calm and enjoy seeing what your training has built.

Practising the commands beforehand is something I’d definitely recommend you don't want those little details catching you off guard on meet day.

I’d rather open with a weight I know I can lift confidently than risk bombing out early.

Keeping a training log has helped me understand which lifts are reliable specially when I'm feeling tired.

Anyone else get nervous before testing a heavy single? I feel like learning to manage that pressure is part of the process.

Don't underestimate sleep during meet week I feel so much better going into a heavy session when I've had a few good nights of rest.
