Are You Still Chasing More Size, or Focusing More on Proportion? 🔥

Post by ZekeBarBN »

There comes a point in lifting when adding more size isn't the only goal anymore. 💪 You might have bigger arms, a thicker chest, and stronger legs, but does your overall physique actually look balanced? A lot of lifters start out chasing the biggest numbers and the most muscle possible, then eventually realize that proportions, symmetry, and shape can completely change how a physique looks.
These days, the conversation around bodybuilding isn't just about getting huge. It's about building capped delts, a wide back, a full chest, balanced legs, and a tight-looking waist without letting one muscle group overpower everything else. Some lifters still want maximum mass, while others are dialing in their weak points, improving their posing, and bringing up lagging body parts. 🔥
Personally, I think size gets attention, but proportion makes a physique stand out. You can keep pushing progressive overload while being smarter about exercise selection, training volume, and recovery. There's no one-size-fits-all approach, though, and your goals might change as you gain experience.
What's your current goal: getting bigger overall, or building a more balanced, aesthetic physique? And which muscle group are you prioritizing right now? 🏋️

Proportion, for sure. Big delts and a wide back make a huge difference. 🔥

I'm still chasing size, but I'm paying more attention to symmetry now. My chest grew fast, while my rear delts and calves fell behind, so I'm bringing those up instead of just adding more sets to everything.

I used to think getting bigger everywhere was the whole game, but my training has changed a lot. Now I'm focused on my upper chest, side delts, and lats because those areas give my physique a better overall shape. I'm still pushing heavy compounds, just being more intentional with my accessories.

That's the shift I'm talking about! Sometimes bringing up one lagging muscle does more for your overall look than gaining another few pounds. 🔥

Still bulking, but I'm keeping an eye on my waist. No point gaining weight if I lose the shape I'm working for.

For me, it's aesthetics now. I'm trying to build that V-taper with wider lats, round delts, and legs that actually match my upper body. I'm not dropping heavy lifting, either; I just added more targeted work and stopped treating every session like a competition.

Size first for me. I'll fine-tune the details later. 😂

That's fair! Building a solid base takes time, and you don't need to chase perfect symmetry before you've put on some real muscle. The key is making sure your training stays balanced as you grow.
