🏋️ How Has Your Strength Changed Since the Start of 2026?

Post by MariaSLV »

Since the start of 2026, I’ve been thinking about how much my strength has actually changed—not just by looking at PRs, but at the bigger picture. Some lifts have gone up quickly, while others have barely moved, and I’ve realized that strength progress isn’t always about adding another plate every week. 🏋️‍♂️
I’m noticing improvements in things like rep quality, bar control, stability, and being able to handle more volume without getting completely smoked. A weight that used to feel heavy now feels much more manageable, and I can sometimes get extra reps without my form falling apart.
I’ve also learned that recovery plays a huge role. Getting enough food, protein, sleep, and rest has helped me train harder and stay consistent instead of constantly hitting the gym exhausted. 💪
For me, 2026 has been less about chasing random maxes and more about building strength that actually sticks. Whether it’s a cleaner squat, another rep on bench, a stronger deadlift, or finally adding weight to pull-ups, those small wins start adding up when you stay consistent. 🔥
Curious how everyone else is doing—have you seen a noticeable strength increase since January, or are you still working through a plateau?

My bench has finally started moving again after being stuck for months. Nothing crazy, but adding a few clean reps feels like a win. 🔥

Squat has been my biggest improvement this year. I’m handling more weight with better bracing and I don’t feel like I’m fighting the bar every rep anymore, which makes the progress feel way more legit.

Same here, small PRs are still PRs.

I’ve noticed my strength most on accessory lifts. My dumbbell rows, RDLs, and pull-ups are way stronger than they were in January, and that carryover is showing up in my main lifts too. 🏋️‍♂️

I’m seeing something similar. I used to only care about adding weight, but now I’m paying more attention to rep quality and how consistent my sets are. If I can move the same load cleaner than I could a few months ago, I’m taking that as a legit strength gain.

My pull-ups have improved a ton this year. Went from grinding bodyweight reps to adding a little weight. 💯

Honestly, my work capacity has improved more than my 1RM. I can push harder during a session and still feel pretty decent the next day, which has helped me stay consistent instead of constantly needing extra recovery.
