how much does your workout clothing actually affect your training?

I used to think a shirt was a shirt as long as it was comfortable but lately I've noticed some fabrics feel way better when I'm sweating during hard sessions. Some hold moisture, some dry faster and some just feel annoying when you're moving around.
Do you guys actually pay attention to materials like cotton, polyester, nylon or blends? Is it just about comfort or can the right fabric genuinely improve your training experience?

Cotton feels great at the start but once it gets soaked it becomes heavy and takes forever to dry. For long sessions moisture wicking fabrics are usually much more comfortable.

For me freedom of movement matters more than anything. A fabric that stretches and doesn't restrict my squat or deadlift setup is already a win.

I used to wear heavy cotton tees all the time until I started doing higher-volume workouts & the sweat staying trapped made me feel uncomfortable and distracted halfway through.

Polyester blends are popular for a reason. They dry faster and handle repeated washing better which helps if you're training several days a week.

For me the biggest thing is avoiding clothes that hold heat. When you're doing heavy sets with short rest periods feeling overheated can affect your focus

People underestimate how much small discomforts add up. If your shirt is sticking to you, your shorts are restricting movement or you're constantly adjusting clothes it affects your training mindset.

I think different fabrics work for different situations. A relaxed cotton shirt is fine for an easy session but intense workouts usually feel better with lighter breathable materials.

Funny how we spend so much time optimizing programs n supplements but ignore simple things like what we're wearing. If something improves comfort and consistency it has a place in training.

The best gym outfit is the one you don't have to think about. Good clothes should disappear in the background and let you focus on the workout.
