On my rest days I never know how to eat. Do you guys still go high protein and carbs, or do you lower calories? I don’t wanna lose gains but also don’t wanna get soft.

I keep protein exactly the same on rest days. I might eat a little less carbs if I'm not training, but protein never changes.

Recovery is when your body actually grows. I don't cut food too hard on off days or I feel flat the next workout.

Good point. I've definitely been eating way less on rest days. Sounds like I should at least keep protein high.

I usually just skip my pre-workout carbs since I'm not lifting. Everything else stays pretty close to normal.

If you're trying to build muscle, don't be scared of food on recovery days. Your muscles are still repairing.

I drop calories by maybe 200-300, mostly from carbs and snacks. Protein stays around 1g per pound every day.

Seems like everyone agrees on keeping protein up. I'll probably stop cutting calories so much on my days off and see how I recover.

I actually feel stronger when I eat well on rest days. The next workout is way better compared to when I under-eat.

Hydration matters too. I used to focus only on food, but drinking enough water and getting electrolytes made a big difference in recovery.
