Rehab Taught Me Patience

The hardest lesson I learned came after dealing with a minor shoulder injury. At first I tried to ignore it and kept training through the discomfort because I didn't want to lose progress. That only made recovery take longer. Once I finally listened to my body and focused on rehab exercises reducing the weight and improving my movement patterns things slowly started getting better. It reminded me that missing a couple of weeks to recover properly is much better than spending months dealing with a problem that could have been avoided. Since then I've respected recovery just as much as training.
