What Workout Split Are You Running Right Now—and Is It Actually Working? 💪

There are so many workout programs floating around right now that it’s easy to keep switching from one routine to another—PPL, upper/lower, full body, bro splits, hybrid programs, and everything in between. But the routine that looks best on paper isn’t always the one that works best with your actual schedule.
A solid program should give you enough quality training to make progress while still allowing you to recover and show up consistently. ACSM’s 2026 resistance-training guidance emphasizes matching training to your goal and personal situation rather than assuming that a more complicated program automatically produces better results.
So what are you running right now? Are you tracking your lifts and seeing measurable progress, or are you thinking about switching things up? Whether you're training before work, hitting the gym after a long shift, or spending most evenings under the barbell, drop your current split and let’s compare what’s actually working. 🔥🏋️‍♂️

Upper/lower 4x a week. Simple and effective. 💪

I’m running PPL right now and it fits my schedule pretty well. Push Monday, pull Tuesday, legs Wednesday, rest, then repeat the upper-body days later in the week. I like knowing exactly what I’m training when I walk into the gym.

Full body three days a week has honestly been a game changer for me. I work a pretty demanding job, so trying to make six gym days happen every week was just unrealistic. Now I’m getting quality sessions in, recovering better, and I’m actually looking forward to training instead of constantly feeling behind.

Still doing PPL. Not trying to reinvent the wheel 😂.

I used to think I needed a crazy amount of volume to grow, but I’ve definitely changed my mind. Once I started tracking my sets and reps instead of randomly adding exercises, my workouts became much more productive. 📈

I’m on a 4-day upper/lower split and keep most sessions around 60–75 minutes. That’s the sweet spot for me because I can train hard without spending my entire evening at the gym.

My program is basically built around the big lifts, then I add accessories based on what needs work. Nothing fancy, but my squat, bench, and deadlift numbers are finally moving again. 🔥

I switched from a six-day bro split to four days because life got busy, and surprisingly my physique hasn’t suffered at all. If anything, I’m recovering better and pushing harder because I’m not walking into every workout feeling beat up.

I’ve also realized that changing the program every few weeks just because progress feels slow can be a trap. I’m trying to give my current routine enough time to actually work, focus on adding reps or weight when I can, and judge progress over months instead of expecting a different physique every Monday. 💪📈
