When I first started training, being fit meant looking lean, lifting heavier, and seeing changes in the mirror. Over time, my definition has changed. Now I think fitness is also about strength, mobility, endurance, recovery, energy, and being able to enjoy everyday life without feeling limited by your body.
I’m curious how everyone else sees it 👀 Has your definition of “being fit” changed over the years?

Definitely. I care more about feeling strong than just looking lean now. 💪

I used to measure fitness by my weight and appearance. Now I pay more attention to my energy, strength, mobility, and how consistently I can train.

Same here! 🙌 When I was newer to the gym, I thought looking athletic was basically the whole goal. Now I see fitness as something much bigger. Being able to hike, carry heavy stuff, play sports, take the stairs, recover well, and still have energy for normal life feels like a much better definition of being fit.

For me, it’s simple: strong, mobile, and healthy.

My priorities changed after dealing with a few frustrating training setbacks. I stopped thinking every workout needed to be intense and started caring more about sustainable progress. A solid workout that I can recover from is better than destroying myself and being useless for three days. 😅

I used to chase abs. Now I chase longevity. 😂

I think being fit now means having a body that supports your lifestyle. I want to lift, walk, travel, spend time outdoors, and keep up with friends without constantly worrying about pain or exhaustion.

That’s probably the biggest mindset shift for me too. 💯 I still enjoy building muscle and getting stronger, but I don’t want fitness to become my entire identity. I’d rather have a routine that fits around work, family, social life, travel, and everything else. If I can stay strong, move well, recover properly, and enjoy life at the same time, that feels like real fitness to me.

Being fit used to mean looking good in gym clothes, but now it means having enough physical capacity to handle whatever my day throws at me.
